Published in London, UK
Undated c1930s

This 'Portfolio of Fashions' was originally presented free with 'Weldon's Ladies' Journal' (the accompanying magazine is not included).
Showcases an array of 1930s home dressmaking patterns by the UK pattern company Weldon's. Includes designs for dresses, coats, suits, sleepwear etc.
The accompanying free sewing pattern is for the spring outfit featured on the front cover - a spring suit and day frock. It is the pre-cut, unprinted type of pattern that was popular at this time. It will fit a 36" bust and 40" hips. There are also full instructions (with scaled-down pattern pieces) printed in the magazine (see photos).
In addition, there is a knitting patterns for a women's jumper and a toddler’s suit.

A very scarce publication. An invaluable resource for the costume historian or collector of vintage sewing patterns.

Please note that this catalogue does not contain any actual sewing patterns (other than the accompanying free pattern). It was a showcase catalogue for patterns that had to be purchased via mail order or from a local stockist. Please note, too, that the magazine which originally accompanied it (Weldon's Ladies' Journal) has not survived.

In very good condition. Some light wear and tear. General age discolouration. But otherwise good. Binding is tight. Staples are sturdy/intact. The cover has come off. Internal pages are clean with no major flaws - no major stains, no tears or annotations. Minimal creasing. There is a tear along the top of the back cover. Does not appear to have been handled a great deal. the free pattern is in excellent, UNUSED factory folded condition.

You are purchasing an original vintage magazine and tissue paper pattern, not a reproduction or digital copy. Pictures are of the actual item you will receive unless otherwise indicated.
